Winter Conference
Everything is Holy
A Winter Retreat
with Singer-songwriter Peter Mayer
February 10-12, 2012
Holiday Inn Select North, Dallas, TX
Who is this Conference For? Anyone with an interest in deepening their faith while assisting others on their own spiritual journeys; anyone interested in fostering spiritual depth; lay leaders, religious educators, and ministers are all welcome; anyone with a longing for the soul-soothing support of a loving community and the chance to step away from the panic du jour; anyone who is ready to sing, laugh, and learn. You are all invited!
LREDA, New DREs, and Small Groups: The conference will include a meeting of our district's chapter of the Liberal Religious Educators' Association (LREDA) at Saturday Lunch.
This year, the New DRE Workshop is on Friday afternoon before the conference officially starts (1 PM - 4 PM). Still the same great advice, support and awesome freebies (including a digital version of the RE Road Map, the best all-around RE resource known to humankind!).
During the conference, you will have opportunities to share insights and support in small groups with your friends and colleagues. DREs and volunteer RE Committee Chairs will meet in groups determined by program size, while lay leaders and youth advisors will meet in special groups to address their own needs and concerns.
The district's library will be available for browsing and borrowing. Time can be scheduled to chat with your District Cluster Representatives or with the District Director of Lifespan Faith Development.
What to Bring: Warm, casual clothes; a notebook or binder and paper. Other suggestions: musical instruments, songs to teach, 50 copies of instructions or a craft project or game, and materials for our display table such as your RE brochure or Prospectus, your own original or adapted curricula, photos from the life of your church (special services, social events, social action projects, etc.), Orders of Service, or anything else you want to share. Also, please bring your checkbook or extra money, as our worship services will include offertories for the Cindy Ross Scholarship Fund, the Youth Advisor Scholarship Fund, and the UUA's Tapestry of Faith Curriculum Initiative. You will also want to bring some extra money for incidentals, massage, and other treats.
Self Care: Wake up early and do yoga each morning - bring your yoga mat. You will also have time and space for walking, reading, napping, meditation and the all-important nothing.
For any questions, please call Jennifer Nichols, District Director of Lifespan Development at 1-800-737-9882 or 817-874-4895. You can also call or email the Winter Conference Task Force Chair, Julie Tribble at uudre.julie@gmail.com or 817-751-2759.
