• promote and teach awareness and respect for diverse spiritual paths and religious beliefs
• present a solid grounding in the principles of the Unitarian Universalist faith
• exhibit spiritual leadership
• exhibit initiative in setting and articulating a vision for children and youth programming
• seek professional development and personal spiritual renewal opportunities
Responsibilities:
• develop or procure (within budget limitations) lesson plans and teaching materials suitable for the target audience. Such plans and materials shall follow UUA guidelines and TUUC policy.
• supervise and provide guidance to paid and volunteer instructors to the extent necessary to insure attainment TUUC goals for the FD Program and uniformity of the materials presented and methods used.
• maintain regular posted daytime office hours of six hours per day for two days per week, with other times available by appointment.
• be present for the regular Sunday worship service at least one hour before service and shall remain until 30 minutes after service ends. (We will consider applicants who would also be serving another church, and understand that in such a case the DFD would not be present every Sunday.)
The DFD is allowed to work at home; to take additional office time; or to schedule private appointments as needed to account for the remaining time up to 20 hours per week. The DFD shall be free of all Congregation responsibilities for three days per week and one Sunday every two months.
The DFD will be relieved of all responsibilities and may be absent from the area for a total of three weeks per year. Two weeks shall be taken as vacation and the third week taken as study leave. One week vacation time may be carried forward for one year to a maximum accrued time of four weeks in any year. In the event of termination by either party, accrued vacation time shall be paid as salary compensation.
The DFD shall include in his/her monthly report a rolling work schedule showing office time, Sunday service time, regular days off, and vacation for increments of three months in advance of the current month. Once published in the monthly report, work time may not be changed unless approved by the TUUC Board President; and in no case shall schedules be changed with less than one month notice unless a clear personal emergency exists.
