A full year of development has gone into the new SWUUC website created by Revoluution Media, but District Executive the Rev. Susan M. Smith believes that visitors will find it worth the wait. Site development was made possible through the generous financial support of Friends of the District, a program for individuals who wish to donate to worthy SWUUC projects.
Revoluution Media is Jonathan Craig and Erik David Carlson, UUs who have created several district websites and worked on the UUA website. Erik Carlson has relocated to New Orleans during the project as intern minister for Community UU Church. While there, he is using his web talents to assist Greater New Orleans UUs in their recovery and fundraising efforts.
Among the many features of the new website are online registration for district events, online donations for Chalice Lighters, Friends of the District, and GNOUU, and a password-protected district directory able to be updated by congregational leaders themselves. Website development included the consolidation of all SWUUC databases enabling much greater efficiency in data collection and organization. Through its simple content management system, the new website can be easily maintained by district staff and authorized volunteers.
